Growing up, we really never had any good hi-fi equipment (did have a Zenith console that served more like furniture); however, I often read about hi-fi in the 1960s magazines we tended to have around.
In the 1970s, some of my better friends had cobbled together Pioneer systems that were ear-awakening to me. By the time I was in my later years of college and could afford it in the early 80s, the quality was on the decline. My love of vintage never left and it wasn’t until the 2010s that I started making my dream a bit of a reality starting with some KLH model 5 speakers and then Sansui and Marantz equipment.
The current setup includes: KLH model 5 speakers (for the astute observer, the Infinity IL30s are not connected at the time), Sansui AU-999 being used as a preamp, Prima Luna Evo 300 tube amplifier, an Akai GXC-760D cassette deck (which gets a lot of use), Yamaha YST-SW030 subwoofer(not shown), Panamax M5100-EX power conditioner, Music Hall Classic turntable with Music Hall Spirit cartridge, an Onkyo T-15 tuner, and a JVC XL-V211 CD player.
