Nagaoka JN-P110 Replacement Stylus

Swapping it takes about as long as reading this sentence. Pull the worn assembly off the front of the cartridge body, push the new one on, done. No realignment, no protractor, no removing the cartridge from the headshell. That's the practical case for owning a Nagaoka: the expensive part stays on your tonearm, and the wear part costs a fraction of a new cartridge.

The tip is a super-fine polished elliptical bonded diamond with 0.4 x 0.7 mil radii, mounted on an aluminum alloy cantilever, in the MP-110's yellow housing. The narrower contact edge of an elliptical sits deeper in the groove wall and follows the modulation more accurately than a conical, which is where the MP-110's reputation for detail and separation comes from. It's warm through the bass, rich in the midrange, and even-handed across genres — this is the tip that made the 110 a default recommendation on every vinyl forum on the internet.

Nagaoka rates stylus life at roughly 150–200 hours of typical home use. Past that, tone quality starts to slip and the tip starts costing you records rather than just fidelity. Worth replacing on schedule rather than waiting until you can hear the problem.

Two compatibility notes. This is also the correct replacement for the older Nagaoka MP-11 cartridge, and it's the factory stylus on Fluance's Reference RT85N turntable — so if that's what you're running, this is your part. And it will fit an MP-100 body if you want to upgrade a conical to elliptical, though Nagaoka voices each cartridge around its specified stylus, so it improves the sound without literally converting a 100 into a 110.
