The headshell isn't an afterthought either. It's precision-machined aluminum with gold-plated leads, Baerwald-aligned at 50mm to suit a wide range of tonearms, and adjustable if you want to fine-tune it later. Total weight lands around 16 grams with the cartridge, which sits comfortably in the counterweight range of most standard arms — no need to hunt down a heavier weight.

The other thing worth knowing: buy this once and you own a headshell forever. When you eventually move up the MP line, you swap the cartridge and keep the shell. And as always, the JN-P100 stylus is user-replaceable, so a worn tip never means starting over.
